# Control and Optimization of Heat Sources

Our objective was to develop an algorithm for designing optimal heat sources in thermal systems. The algorithm yields a design tool which helps to determine the shape and location of the optimal heat sources based on a predefined model with thermal properties. We simulated the algorithm on a 200 mm long cylinder, which represents the object on which we wish to obtain a desired temperature profile, using coiled heat sources on top of it. The simulations show that by the use of less heat sources with specified geometry and optimal control we obtain a very close desired temperature profile.
